Write & publish a blog post
Status: Available Write a blog post with the rich editor, set a featured image, categories and SEO, choose public or
premium, and publish.
Your blog is where you publish longer-form articles for your community. You write each post in a rich editor, decide
whether it's free for everyone or premium, and publish. When you publish, a card for the post automatically appears in
the community newsfeed so members see it without having to go looking.
Where to write
Open Blog (/admin/content/blog) and click Create Item.
Write the post
| Field | What it does | |---|---| | Title | The headline of your post. Required. | | Content | The body of the article,
written in the rich editor (see below). Required. | | Summary | A short excerpt shown on blog cards and in listings. For
premium posts, this is also what members without access see in place of the full article, so write it as a real teaser.
| | Featured Image | The cover image shown on the blog card and at the top of the post. Required. | | Author | The
member shown as the author of the post. Required. |
The rich editor
The Content editor handles formatted text, and you can drop in richer content blocks alongside your writing:
- Callouts: highlighted boxes to draw attention to a note or tip
- Galleries: sets of images
- Videos: embedded video
- CTAs: a call-to-action button or block
Organize and optimize
| Field | What it does | |---|---| | Categories | Tag the post with one or more categories so members can filter the
blog. | | Featured | Turn this on to highlight the post on your blog page. | | Meta Title | The title search engines and
link previews use. Leave blank to fall back to the post title. | | Meta Description | The short description search
engines and link previews show. |
The post's web address (Slug) is generated from your title automatically when you save. You only need to touch it if you
want a custom URL.
Choose who can read it
Set Access Type. There are exactly two options:
| Access Type | Who sees the full article | |---|---| | Public | Anyone, including logged-out visitors. | | Premium |
Only members who have access through a product or plan. Everyone else sees the summary as a teaser. |
There is no "members only" option. A post is either public or premium. Selling a premium post takes one extra step
(bundling it into an access group); see Sell premium blogs with access groups.
Publish
1. Open Blog (/admin/content/blog) and click Create Item.
2. Fill Title and write the Content in the editor, adding callouts, galleries, videos or CTAs as needed.
3. Upload a Featured Image and set the Author.
4. Add Categories and a Summary.
5. Fill Meta Title and Meta Description for search engines (optional).
6. Set Access Type to Public or Premium.
7. Set Status to Published.
8. Save.
When you publish, a card for the post drops into the community newsfeed automatically. Blog posts don't have comments,
so members react and discuss on that feed card rather than under the article.
