Status: Available Understand the three states your community can be in, and how to take a live community offline.
Your community is always in one of three states:
- Setup is the starting state. You're still completing the go-live requirements, so the entire site shows the Setup Required page to visitors. See Your go-live checklist.
- Live is the normal state once you pass the checklist. Your community is visible to members.
- Paused means the community has been temporarily taken offline. Your content, members, groups, and settings are all kept exactly as they are. Nothing is deleted.
There's also a billing-driven offline state: if the community's own subscription lapses, the site is temporarily taken offline ("Temporarily unavailable") until billing is resolved. It behaves like Paused, but it clears itself once payment is sorted rather than being something you toggle.
There is no self-serve pause toggle today
The live/paused state is system-managed. There is no toggle for it in your settings right now, and the underlying field is read-only to admins.
So if you need to take a live community offline, or bring a paused community back, contact TribeCrafter support. Pausing and resuming is not a self-serve control yet.
