Overview
TribeCrafter has a built-in notification system that alerts members about activity relevant to them — new comments, reactions, friend requests, group invitations, and more.
Notification Types
Members receive notifications for:
- Reactions on their posts or comments
- Comments on their posts
- Replies to their comments
- Friend requests (sent, accepted)
- Group invitations
- Mentions (@username in posts or comments)
- Course updates (new lessons, certificates)
- Announcements you publish
Notification Aggregation
To avoid overwhelming members, similar notifications are grouped together. For example, if 5 people react to a post within a short window, instead of 5 separate notifications, the member sees one: "John, Sarah, and 3 others reacted to your post."
In-App vs Email
Notifications appear in two places:
- In-app — the notification bell in the navigation bar, always delivered
- Email — sent based on the member's email preferences (see Email Notification Preferences)
Tips
- Announcements reach all members — use them sparingly for important updates
- Notification aggregation windows are automatic; you can't configure the timing
- Members can subscribe/unsubscribe from specific content threads
