Notification System

Status: Available How notifications keep your members engaged and informed. Overview TribeCrafter has a built-in notification system that alerts members about activity relevant to them — new comments, reactions, friend requests, group invitations, and more. Notification Types Members receive notifications for: - Reactions on their posts or comments - Comments on their posts - Replies to their comments - Friend requests (sent, accepted) - Group invitations - Mentions (@username in posts or comments) - Course updates (new lessons, certificates) - Announcements you publish Notification Aggregation To avoid overwhelming members, similar notifications are grouped together. For example, if 5 people react to a post within a short window, instead of 5 separate notifications, the member sees one: "John, Sarah, and 3 others reacted to your post." In-App vs Email Notifications appear in two places: 1. In-app — the notification bell in the navigation bar, always delivered 2. Email — sent based on the member's email preferences (see Email Notification Preferences) Tips - Announcements reach all members — use them sparingly for important updates - Notification aggregation windows are automatic; you can't configure the timing - Members can subscribe/unsubscribe from specific content threads Related - Email Notification Preferences - Announcements

Email Notification Preferences

Status: Available How members control which email notifications they receive. Overview Each member can configure which types of notifications trigger an email. This is managed through their profile settings, but as an admin you can see and understand the preferences. Master Switch Master Email Opt-In — if a member turns this off, ALL email notifications are disabled regardless of individual settings. Individual Email Preferences When the master switch is on, members can toggle emails for: | Preference | What Triggers It | |------------|------------------| | Friend Request | Someone sends them a friend request | | Friend Request Accepted | Their friend request is accepted | | Group Activity | New posts in their groups | | Group Addition | They're added to a group | | Private Message | They receive a direct message | | Comment Events | Replies to their posts or comments | | Announcement | You publish a new announcement | | Content Report | A content report is filed (admin only) | Tips - Members manage their own preferences — you can view but shouldn't edit them - The master switch is the most important setting. Announcements

Status: Available Broadcast important messages to all community members. Overview Announcements are community-wide messages that appear prominently to all members. Use them for important updates, new feature launches, policy changes, or special events. Creating an Announcement 1. Go to Announcements in the admin panel 2. Enter a Title — keep it concise and attention-grabbing 3. Write the Body using the rich text editor — supports formatting, links, and images 4. Save and publish How Members See Announcements Announcements appear as a banner or modal that members see when they next visit the community. The system tracks which announcement each member has last seen, so they won't see the same announcement repeatedly. Tips - Don't overuse announcements — they lose impact if members see one every day - Keep the title under 60 characters for best display - Use the body for details; the title should convey the key message on its own - Announcements trigger an email notification to members who have announcement emails enabled Related - Notification System - Email Notification Preferences
