Status: Available Show a short, site-wide message to logged-in members, with an optional button.
The announcement banner is a single line that appears at the top of your community for logged-in members. Use it for something timely: an upcoming event, a new course, or planned maintenance.
You set it up in Community Settings > Promotion (/admin/content/cs_promotion).
Turn on the banner
- Open Community Settings > Promotion (
/admin/content/cs_promotion). - Turn on Announcement Enabled.
- Write the Announcement Message (up to 100 characters). A leading emoji is fine.
- Optional: add a button by filling both Announcement CTA Label (up to 20 characters) and Announcement CTA URL. If you fill one, you must fill the other.
- Save.
The button
The button is optional and only appears when both the label and the URL are set. The URL has to be a full web address starting with https:// or an in-app path starting with /, for example /courses. Leave both fields empty for a message-only banner.
Who sees it
The banner shows to logged-in members across your community. Logged-out visitors don't see it.
Members can dismiss the banner. If you change the message later, it shows again to everyone, including members who dismissed the earlier version. Turning the banner off and back on does not bring it back for people who already dismissed it. Only changing the message does.
Banner or announcement?
The banner is a one-line nudge that sits at the top of the screen. A broadcast announcement is a fuller message that lands in each member's alerts. For anything longer than a single line, send an announcement instead. See Send announcements to your members.
