Status: Available Show a small promo card in the newsfeed sidebar, with an image and a button.
The promo widget is a card that appears in the newsfeed sidebar for logged-in members. Use it to highlight an offer, a featured course, or anything you want members to notice while they browse the feed.
You set it up in Community Settings > Promotion (/admin/content/cs_promotion), the same screen as the announcement banner.
Set up the widget
- Open Community Settings > Promotion (
/admin/content/cs_promotion). - Turn on Promo Enabled.
- Fill the content:
- Promo Eyebrow (up to 30 characters): a small label above the title, such as "PARTNER OFFER".
- Promo Title (up to 60 characters): the headline.
- Promo Description (up to 160 characters): one or two short lines.
- Promo CTA Label (up to 20 characters) and Promo CTA URL: the button. Both are required when the widget is on.
- Promo Image: an optional image, roughly 16:9.
- Save.
The button
When the promo widget is on, both the Promo CTA Label and Promo CTA URL are required, so the card always has a working button. The URL has to be a full web address starting with https:// or an in-app path starting with /, for example /plans.
Who sees it
The promo widget shows to logged-in members in the newsfeed sidebar. Logged-out visitors don't see it.
Promo widget or announcement banner?
Both live on the Promotion screen and you can run them at the same time. The promo widget is a card in the sidebar with an image, room for a description, and a button. The announcement banner is a single line across the top of the screen. Use the widget for a standing promotion and the banner for a short, timely notice. See The announcement banner.
