Blocking someone

If another member is bothering you, you can block them. Blocking is meant to fully cut off contact between the two of you.

What blocking does

Blocking is mutual. Once you block someone, neither of you can interact with the other. That includes direct messages: a blocked member can't message you, and you can't message them.

Blocking is effectively permanent

This is the important part, so think before you block.

You can unblock someone later, but unblocking does not restore your old relationship. If you were following each other or were connected before, that doesn't come back when you unblock. You'd both have to start over from scratch, the same as with anyone new.

So while there's an unblock option, the effect of blocking is best treated as permanent.

Who you can't block

You cannot block admins or moderators of the community. They help run the space, so blocking doesn't apply to them. If you're having a problem with an admin or moderator, the right move is to reach out to the community team rather than trying to block.
