This screen holds the text new members read as they join. The most important field here is your Community Guidelines. If it's empty, your community can't go live and no new member can finish signing up. Fill it.
Where to edit it
Open Community Settings > Community Content (/admin/content/cs_content).
The fields

Community guidelines are a hard requirement, twice over
Your Community Guidelines field blocks you in two places if it's empty:
- Go-live. Your community can't move from setup to live until guidelines are filled in. It's a check on your go-live list.
- Member onboarding. New members must tick a box to accept the guidelines as the last step of signing up. If the guidelines are empty, every new member gets stuck at that step and can't finish joining.
So this isn't an optional nicety. Write your guidelines before you open the doors. They use a rich-text editor, so you can add headings, lists and links. Cover the basics: what the community is for, how members should treat each other, and what's not allowed.
The welcome message
The Welcome Message Heading and Welcome Message Subtext are the first thing a new member reads in onboarding, before they fill in their profile and accept the guidelines. Both are part of your go-live checklist, so set them too. Keep it warm and short: tell people they're in the right place and what to do first.
Steps
- Open Community Settings > Community Content (
/admin/content/cs_content). - Write the Welcome Message Heading and Welcome Message Subtext.
- Fill in Community Guidelines using the editor, and don't leave it empty.
- Add About Community text if you want it.
- Save.
