Status: Available Create a free or paid group, give it a name and image, and publish it.
Groups are spaces inside your community where members post, comment and gather around a topic. You create them in Groups (/admin/content/group).
Create a group
- Open Groups (
/admin/content/group). - Click Create Item.
- Fill Name. This is what members see in the group list and at the top of the group.
- Choose the Type: free or paid (see below). New groups default to paid.
- Upload an Image and a Background Image. Both are required.
- Fill in a Description (required, 50 to 1500 characters). Supports rich text.
- Set Status to Published.
- Save.
Free vs paid
Every group has a Type. You pick one when you create it:

New groups default to paid. A free group is part of your open community baseline; a paid group is something you sell.
"Premium" groups are paid groups sold via a product or plan
You don't put a price on the group itself. To charge for a group, set its Type to paid, then include it in a one-time product or a subscription plan — members get access when they buy that product or subscribe. The next article walks through it. The group screen has no price field by design.
Publishing counts toward go-live
Your community can't go live until it has at least one published group. Setting Status to Published here satisfies that check, so create and publish one early.
A draft group doesn't count and won't be visible to members. Make sure Status is Published, not Draft.
Retiring a group
Once a group has members, posts, or is sold through a product or plan, it can't be deleted. To retire it, archive it instead (set its status to Archived). Archiving keeps the records intact and is reversible. See Archiving vs deleting content.
