Status: Available Make a group paid and sell access by including it in a product or plan.
You don't put a price on a group. To charge for one, you set the group's Type to paid and then attach it to a product (a one-time purchase) or a plan (a subscription). Members get access to the group when they buy that product or subscribe to that plan.
If you haven't read How access & monetization works yet, start there. It explains products vs plans and how unlocking works. This article is the group-specific version of that.
The shape of it
- Create the group and set its Type to paid.
- Create or edit a product or plan.
- Add the group to what that product or plan unlocks.
That's it. Once the group is in a product's or plan's unlocked contents, buying that product or being on that plan gives the member access to the group.
Step 1: Create the group (paid)
In Groups (/admin/content/group), create the group and set its Type to paid, then Status to Published. A paid group is locked to members until they have access, which is what you want for something you're selling. See Create a group for the full walkthrough.
Step 2: Create or edit a product or plan
Decide how you want to sell access:
- One-time payment: use a product in Products (
/admin/content/product). The member pays once. See Create a one-time product. - Recurring payment: use a plan in Plans (
/admin/content/plan). The member subscribes monthly or yearly, and access lasts as long as the subscription is active. See Create a subscription plan.
You can also add the group to a product or plan you already have.
Step 3: Add the group to what it unlocks
On the product or plan, set what it gives access to. For groups you have two ways to choose:
- All groups: the product or plan unlocks every group you have, including ones you add later.
- Specific groups: pick the exact group (or groups) to include. This is the usual choice for selling one paid group.
If you choose all groups, that wins over any specific picks for groups, and the member gets every group either way. The two combine across content types, but "all of a type" always wins within that type. This is the same override rule covered in How access & monetization works.
What members see
A paid group you're selling stays out of reach for members who haven't bought in. Once a member purchases the product or starts the subscription, the group opens up to them and they can post and take part like any other member.
If access later ends (a subscription lapses, or a time-limited product expires), the member loses access to the group again.
